COMMERCIAL ARCHITECTURE

AADESHWAR DHAM

Botad is a small but fast developing town in Gujarat. The site is located in one of the most developing areas and faces a lake. Triangular shaped plot was given to us with a brief of accommodating 12 2bhk units per floor, which seemed next to impossible. It demanded a very different design approach as nothing typical would solve the puzzle. So this exercise was approached as solving a jigsaw puzzle, and we designed all 2bhk units lining the periphery of the site with an internal passage connecting all the units and a big central triangular courtyard in the center. This resolved a lot of issues including light and ventilation, movement patterns and responded most aptly to the odd shape of the site. Sometime such projects require a very different angle of the designer to look at, where pre conceived notions have to be kept aside and something new and vague has to be tried.
